FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28 -

BLACK OAK CASINO. TUOLUMNE

Chuck Hernandez is on drums tonight. Awesome drummer out of Tulare. He gets out of work at 4pm so John Dees and I are there to get him on board the Black Stallion F150 at 4pm sharp. John Dees is on bass and he is a monster bass player out of Visalia. We are on our way up highway 99. I call Dave Holob who is in Sonora already and he is ready and will meet us at the casino. Black Oak has a cool stage and excellent soundman. We are running right to the minute with a three hour drive from Visalia. It is cold outside but no snow. After a nice sounding soundcheck we are on our way to dinner in the casino. Dave and I are talking about high schools in the sierras, as I went to high school near by here. Summerville high. Some of my classmates will be here tonight and I am looking forward to seeing them. First show goes great lots of dancing and the sound is super. Everyone in the band is playing great! At intermission I go out to say hello to my friends and lots of Summerville Bears are here. Fun! We get a few tables together ans Steve S, Bob C. Connie, Cathy, Tim F. to name just a few really nice friends I have known for a long time. What a great night! Thank you Bears and Black Oak Casino!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 31 -
D' ANBINO WINERY & CELLARS
PASO ROBLES

Brian Beal is back in town from Colorado. So on a nice weather afternoon we drive over to Paso Robles. Chuck Hernandez is meeting us there and Kirk Nelson is with his wife checked in to a nearby hotel. Tonight I know is going to be fun. I have worked here before and the audience is awesome. Everyone joins in and has a great time! We hurry to set up as people arrive. There are balloons ready, tied to the ceiling ready for release at midnight. The food for dinner is amazing! Kris the lady chef is very talented. Soon the dinner has been served and everyone is ready for dancing. Kirk is ripping on keys and Brian and Chuck have a great groove on each song. Near midnight we stop and Carmine the owner gets on the microphone and counts us in to the New Year! The moment is fantastic and I have to say this was one of the best New Years Eve parties I have ever been to!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24

MICKY'S, LEMOORE....Chuck Hernandez on drums tonight as Brian Beal on bass and I are in Lemoore not far from Visalia. Cool local bar that has a lot going on. Nice stage with a great crowd. We park in front, load in and go to work. I am just back from a huge family Thanksgiving in Henderson Nevada. Looking forward to playing guitar. It has been the biggest year of shows and the release of the Blues Magic album has created a lot more publicity. I still have two big shows at the end of the year Dec. 28th at the Black Oak Casino in Tuolumne and New Years Eve at the D'Anbino Winery in Paso Robles. Chuck Hernandez is playing drums on both those shows. Coming back to Visalia it is the first night of thick valley fog. You can't see more than ten yards in front of you as it gathers dense fog near the ground. It is good that the band takes this time of the year off. Very hard to travel late at night in the Central Valley. I have so much to do to get ready for next year plus I have a new song for release at the start of the year.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17

RIVERVIEW INN, THREE RIVERS
It might rain tonight. We meet Stan here as he lives just across the river from the club. Likes to say he could wade over late in summer when the river is not rushing from snow melt run off. After dinner and set up we kick out the jams. As a trio we are very well rehearsed from a summer of over 50 shows. The club fills up and there is lots of action. Great! We play many of the songs from the new album Blues Magic. Dancing going on and the evening moves along quickly with our last song ending at 1:30am. Three Rivers is a cool town, great vibe. I am glad the club did well tonight as it helps all the local musicians. The Riverview books bands all year and it can be tough during off season. This town is the gateway to Sequoia National Park and has a good summer tourist season. As we load the gear there is no rain making it much better for getting all this equipment in the trucks. Stan has a lot of work coming up at his job at Southern California Edison plus he just got a promotion. He will have Chuck Hernandez work the shows in November and December. Stan has played solid pro drums for the 2012 tour dates.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9 -
BLUES HERON, COARSEGOLD
Huge day! Kirk Nelson arrives at Brian Beals house at 1pm for a recording session. He records keys on my new song "Sugar Sweet". Sounds very cool with lots of Blues vibe. Then Stan and Kirk drive to Fresno to stop by Bentley's drum store before the show. Brian and I meet them around 7pm for dinner and gear set up. A nice crowd is here tonight preparing for the holidays and ready for a good time. With a cool sound we dive into the songs. Kirk plays great and I get to visit with friends I know from performing here for the last five years. A hot young guitar player named Harley Giles sits in with us and plays great. After a fun night of music we are on our way back to Visalia about 90 minutes away. Kirk is staying at Stan's home in Three Rivers so they can enjoy the Sierra foothills Saturday morning.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (DAY) -
FEATHER FALLS CASINO, OROVILLE
Saturday November 10th in the afternoon we drive up to Oroville. Nice day with plans to check in at the casino hotel and have dinner. There is a Pink Floyd tribute band in the show room tonight that is well known for there show. Traveling through Marysville and Yuba City on the way. These towns look very peaceful and are like Visalia in that they are surrounded by ranches and farms. The historic center of each town is a picture of old California and reminds me of my families past. Years ago we lived in this part of California. Arriving at the hotel for Feather Falls Casino we are greeted at the front desk with the news that lots of Blues Fans are here for the show. Exciting! The hotel is new, rooms are great and we meet for dinner in the casino.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (NIGHT) -
BISCUITS & BLUES, SAN FRANCISCO
Up early and downstairs for breakfast. Brian is out jogging and says hello to Mike Buell who is checking in for the concert today. As we sound check first we are at the stage early and there is a buzz for the line up of bands today. I get a chance to talk with Coco Montoya about guitar gear and promoter Don D. is here being very cool. A great surprise is famous promoter Glen Maxon is here to introduce the bands! Awesome! The bands here are Michael Williams, Laurie Moravan, Cafe R&B and Coco Montoya. Radio DJ and writer Phil Riser is here and has a copy of our radio interview and we grab a photo together for promotion.
The truck is quickly loaded and we are on our way to San Francisco! Traffic is good, a little slow as we near the bay bridge. We pull up in front of the club and off load. kinda double parked on a bust street. This is downtown and even on a Sunday is very busy. Once inside we order dinner and set up. Harrison Flynn is here with his family to sit in with the band. Cool young guitar player that has some good blues chops. Tumbleweed is here tonight also. Tumbleweed is a hot Harp player and really brings the blues sound. Big Rick and his son Ricky are here, long time friends that are very supportive. 7pm and the place is full! Great! the shows go really well. Both the 7pm and 9pm shows are full and the club does well making money. This will hopefully help me get re-booked! After the gear is on board the truck we drive over the Bay bridge and out towards the Central valley. A very long day with two big shows and lots of music. I hope to look back on days like this when I can't run so hard. Kirk is on his way to Los Angeles after we get in to Visalia at 2am. Wow!

CROWN BILLIARDS - SAN RAMON

HALLOWEEN PARTY!
Brian, Stan and I turn in a ripping night of Blues Rock joined by the mighty Tumbleweed! The SF Giants win over the Detroit Tigers and the weather is very nice. This has always been a cool gig because Sarah puts together a great party and the costumes are excellent. Sarah looks amazing in her French Marie A. costume. Great place run by very cool people!

FRIDAY & SATURDAY
OCTOBER 19 & 20
EAGLE MOUNTAIN CASINO
PORTERVILLE

8PM - 12AM

SUMMIT ROOM

Friday night Stan Hack on drums and Saturday night Chuck Hernandez on drums. Friday is good, PA and lights set up and groovin' on the tunes. Saturday is a complete surprise because the place is packed full of people. The first set is 90 minutes long! I bought tickets to be back here in Nov. for the Robert Cray / Kenny Wayne Shepard show. They have a big concert tent outside the casino for National act shows. Look forward to a big night of guitar! The shows for me are some of the best this weekend, rippin' on guitar and everyone who works here is very nice to us. Thank you Eagle Mountain Casino!

We will be at BIG BIKE WEEKEND
SATURDAY, OCT. 13
AMA NAT'L GYPSY TOUR - REDDING, CA.

HILLTOP DRIVE NEAR THE HOST HOTEL HOLIDAY INN

A quick run to Northern California. We are out the door in the morning to make this a 24 hour run. Stopping in Colusa at the casino for lunch, but wait we can't get in because it is a 25 dollar Roast Beef night and this is over our budget. Back in the truck and off we go. Brian and Stan are all charged up about the election coming up. They are Republicans like many people in Central California. I listen, I would rather keep politics outside of my music. We pull into Redding and stop at a Hometown Buffet and get a big meal. Feeling ready we drive to the hotel and check in. A very nice Holiday Inn Express with the parking lots full of bike events. Big Bike weekend and it is going on! Yes! We set up in the ballroom and sound check. It takes all the time we have and after a quick change of a tee shirt we are rippin' into the songs. I meet some great local people we visit and talk about Redding in between shows. Soon the gear is loading into the truck with plans about doing this event again next year. We are up early the next morning and after breakfast are driving down highway 5. I get a call from Big Rick that he is Visalia today from Redwood City. He is in town to see his family, niece lives in Visalia. I am using Flex fuel in the F150 with good results. Back in town with plans for a great week!

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
- CAFE BOOGALOO, HERMOSA BEACH 9PM
This club draws a lot of people and they like to boogie! Kirk Nelson, Stan Hack, Brian Beal an myself get parked and in the club early. The food is good and the staff very cool people that can handle how wild this club is. Before the show I get a chance to visit a table of friends that I knew when I lived in Southern Ca. years ago. They are in to music and a friend gives me a copy of her new album. Soon the show is off and running with a bang! Dancing and the club lights up with fun. One thing about Hermosa Beach is the girls are awesome! This town is on the beach and when the ladies are out for dancing on a Friday night, they mean business. Every one is bringing it and having a good time!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
- BLUES & BREWS FESTIVAL
SUTTER CREEK 5PM

The weather is right as we meet the awesome Tumbleweed at a Stockton parking lot. He follows the Black Stallion up into the gold country to Sutter Creek. Pulling slowly down Main street we see our stage and go around back to an alley. Pulling up to the stage we unload and check out the beer garden near by. This is a good location for us because the crowd wants beer with their blues music. Soon the place begins to fill up and the band kicks into some easy does it blues to start up. The place continues to fill up more and more people. Joni Hess is here to help with merch. but the crowd is so thick it is hard to get to the stand. The night has a huge full moon above us and as the band lights up the songs with ripping Harp the stage front is swirling with dancers. We can't stop. As it gets towards closing time it is hard to end so we do a couple of extra songs. The night is a blast, lots of people having a great time! Hope we get to play this event again! As we are starting to break down a woman jumps on stage and wants to sing alone with the prerecorded music on the PA. We let her and two more girls jump up to sing too. After a song they jump back into the crowd and the beer garden announces they are sold out of all the beer. We load the Black Stallion and Tumbleweed heads over to the local bar to jam with the band playing there. Nice night in the Gold country!

Get Ready Colorado! We will bring “Blues Magic” to you on Thursday August 30, as we are bluzin' at the Little Bear Saloon in Evergreen, Colorado. Near Denver and famous for a good time, we will be playing all the new songs from Blues Magic! Then on to the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo for shows on Friday & Saturday, August 31 and September 1. Proud to be at this event!

With everything on board the F150, it is an early Wed. morning and we are on our way to Richfield, Utah. We make a lunch stop at a casino in Las Vegas and are back on the road. The weather is great and we are enjoying traveling through some scenic country. We trade off driving and just roll along. Around 8pm we are checking in and having dinner. Richfield is in southern Utah and is in a valley that is green with lots of ranches. Good sized town with a great feel of classic America. Kinda like our town Visalia. Talking with people they invite us to come back and play the town festival during the summer.

It is Thursday morning and we are playing a show in Evergreen, Colorado at the Little Bear Saloon tonight. After a great breakfast we head out on to the moonscape that is this wide open space for miles, with no water. It is plateau's blowin' into shapes that are amazing. Not much out here as it was once the bottom of a huge inland ocean. It looks like it. After a long drive we are in the Rocky Mountains near Glenwood Springs and Aspen. Beautiful here, birch trees and deep green forest. On and on until late afternoon and we arrive at the club Little Bear in downtown Evergreen. A famous stage with photos on the walls from countless performers for many many years playing shows here. The ceiling is covered in women's bra's nailed to the entire room. you get the idea that there has been many nights of goodtimes that resulted in a bra taken off and added to the collection. We are about 40 minutes into the Rockies from Denver. Evergreen is a mountain town that has lots of shops and would be a nice place to live. a herd of elk or deer blocked the road for a few minutes driving into town. We set up, sound check and have dinner. I go next door and borrow some Elmers glue to fix the volume knob on my guitar. The ladies running the gift shop were nice to lend me the glue and I brought it right back. Cool small town vibe, everyone at the club is very nice to us. We get the keys to the band house and drive up the hill a few blocks and bring out stuff in for the night. Back to the club and into the first of two shows. Small but mighty crowd is here but I'm really excited to see a good friend from my San Francisco days, Kathy. she is here with her husband, along with a friend of her's and another cool friend of mine Connie. Connie flew in from California to visit Kathy this weekend so we could all visit at the shows. The night goes well with Brian's sister and husband her to see us too. They drove in from Boulder. Just a blast of good night!

Friday morning we are driving south to Colorado Springs. I give the sound company a call and surprised to reach the sound man in a hospital bed. He had broken his ankle the day before setting up the PA system. I would later learn that he was hurt chasing some one who stole his golf cart at the fairgrounds. We check in and I call Kathy and Connie to see what's their plan They will be at the show tonight and see us in a bit. We drive to the stage and set up the gear. About 35 minutes south of us. The stage is huge with a great PA and large lawn in front of us. We get a great sound check and walk into the fair to locate a place for dinner. The show goes well and Kathy and Connie take photos during the two shows. The weather is hot but at night it is a nice summer temp. After the show we leave the gear at the stage and drive back to Colorado Springs.

Saturday morning Kathy Connie and the band meet up in Old Town Colorado Springs for breakfast. Cool district and Connie picks a great restaurant! After some good byes and photos the band returns to the hotel to get ready for the shows. With a quick drive to the State Fairgrounds in Pueblo we are soon jamming the first show. I got a chance to walk around and see lots of animals. Many different breeds of bulls, goats, roosters, horses in is an amazing collection at a state fair. Lots of vendors too. By chance I meet up with a vendor from the Laughlin Nevada River run. What a surprise! We visit and talk about his life traveling around the USA selling at the big events. Super nice person with many stories from his traveling. After a smoking last show the crew helps us load the truck and we make plans to leave early Sunday for a direct drive to Las Vegas.

Sunday we take our time driving across the Rockies, into Southern Utah and on in to Vegas and check in. Just before we go to our rooms Stan says he will play some Black Jack and wins $300! Nice1

Monday is an early breakfast and on home to Visalia. Kathy is very cool to call us while driving to say hello and see how we are doing. Around 1pm we are back in town unloading the truck and glad to be home! It was a great run with good weather and beautifil sights. The fair was huge, shows cool and great to see a wonderful good friend too!

On Thursday, August 23 - El Dorado Hills
Summer Concert Series at their town center.

I have worked here before and the crowd is a lot of fun! Huge gathering downtown. Tonight the Sacramento TV station is here with live reports and announcements. Stan, Brian and I arrive early to get the gear on the stage. Dave Holob will be with us tonight on the violin. The promoter has a great diinner for us at a near by restaurant and the sound company is excellent. We do a long sound check to get the music sounding cool through the PA and hit with two hot shows. My friend Joni from Penn Valley is here and helps with the merch. Lots of great dancing going on! Super night! We get some flex fuel at a nearby gas station and head back to V-Town!

FRIDAY & SATURDAY
AUGUST 24 & 25
CHUKCHANSI CASINO
COARSEGOLD

With rooms at this resort hotel / casino we are on our way early to check in and get the gear set up. Andy Border is the sound company, someone we have worked shows with before. Andy is from Visalia too, so it is great to see him here for work. After sound check we all meet for dinner. The casino is crowded yet the food is served quickly and we are soon on stage ready to hit it. The fun surprise this weekend is how many people from Yosemite Lakes Park stop by to dance and say hello. Coarsegold is a beautiful mountain town only a short drive to Yosemite National Park. Lots of people stay at the Casino and make day trips into the park. The view at sunset is fantastic, you can see for miles as the sun goes slowly down with lots of colors in the distance. Two days here is a great gig with lots of guitar playing late into the night.

Scott loves the new boat he is always excited to take this cabin cruiser to Catalina. Kirk pulls up to the stage and soon we are are set up with an audience gathering. My friend Bob and Alta are here, they live not to far away. Both super nice people, Bob who is very talented as a photographer, is building guitars now from kits. THIS FRIDAY AUGUST 3 WE ARE BLUZIN' @ FIRST FRIDAY FOUNTAINS AT ROSEVILLE

Dave Holob plays a great electric violin. I think he got the violin in New Foundland, it is made of a special wood. When he puts it into his amp set up it sounds awesome. People love to hear him play! Brian, Stan and I meet Dave in Roseville on a hot summer afternoon. Tonight's show is here at at the Fountain's of Roseville, a beautiful Mall with amazing stores and a huge fountain that changes constantly. People enjoy just watching the cool patterns of water. The stage is nice and the promoter Liz is super to work with! She takes care of her acts with plenty of water and lots of positive support. My friends Joni H. is here and Big Rick is here so are a group of Sacramento blues fans that meet up at Blues shows. A great audience has chairs and lawn to enjoy the shows. The band is ripping through songs from Blues Magic and having a fun time with everyone. It is my second year in row for this concert series, glad Dave could be with us for this show.

SATURDAY AUGUST 4th WE ARE IN PENN VALLEY HAVIN' FUN AT PILOT PEAK WINERY!

SUMMERTIME ROCKIN' THE BLUES!

Working as a trio, Stan, Brian and I arrive with time to set up and have dinner. tonight my friends Joni and David are here with a table of friends. With our new light system and the perfect weather lots of people are close to the band and dancing. This is a beautiful setting with tables tucked in around trees and a view of the valley.
Tonight is the biggest crowd for us ever here. We are into the new songs from the Blues Magic record, and it is going well. I bought the folks who run this winery lots of Jimmy Buffett CD's and Merch for a suggested Buffett night party. We'll see. With some gift wine from the owners we are soon on our way back to V-Town. Feeling like Summer is here with lots of shows still to go. As a trio we are playing the songs well and traveling together like a wining team!

SATURDAY, JULY 28 - GILROY
GARLIC FESTIVAL
WE ARE ON
THE GAZEBO STAGE
AT 3:45PM

Today is a fun day! The Garlic Festival has always been a favorite show of the year. Lots of people, we play on the coolest stage in the center of the event! Our Garlic Festival stage manager is awesome, super supportive in helping us make this gig the best. We meet Scott Bolsta on Highway 99 near Madera and drive towards Gilroy. Stan and his wife have been camping near the festival. Going over the pass the truck indicator light says we have a tire going flat. We meet Stan at a gas station and change the tire. Not easy since we can't find the tire jack. We get it done. Next as we pull into the festival near the stage there is lots of over parking and we are looking for help from the festival to move cars to get the trucks in. Guitar player John Garcia is on stage in front of us and is tearing it up on guitar. Monster Blues player! Steve Rose is here to shoot an interview video so we find a location under some cool trees and film. Turns out great. Thank you Steve! We hit the stage and the band is heating up song after song. Soon the place is in full dance fever and we are all going for it. With not as much time as we would love to have, we are off the stage and on the road. Back in Visalia for dinner. Great to have Scotty on the sax and play this very fun California festival.

FRIDAY, JULY 20 -
HOUSE OF BLUES
CROSSROADS STAGE
WEST HOLLYWOOD

Brian and I are in town early to make a bunch of stops before we sound check. I stop at Amoeba record store to put Blues Magic on sale as a CD. Mesa Hollywood for bass cab wheels and Beverly Hills Barney's store for a James Pierce Tee shirt. Cool Tee, glad I got this. Then on to House Of Blues Sunset. We arrive and Stan is on the cell phone not far away, Gary Escobeda on Harp is here too. Kirk Nelson is pulling in from San Pedro. The place is full of people at 4pm because of a traveling metal music festival. We are trying to get near the parking lot door and it not easy. After going in through the valet parking lot we are double parked near the crowd. The gear is coming off the truck, up an elevator and on to the Crossroads stage. The place is packed to the rafters with people out for fun! My friend Andrea is her having dinner, also Yasu from Performance Guitar is here. We rip into the tunes after dinner with Gary on Harp and Kirk smoking on keys. The show goes well with the help of a cool soundman at the board. After the load out we drive to San Pedro to stay at Kirk's house. A great night on the Sunset Strip.

SATURDAY, JULY 21 -
CAFE BOOGALOO
HERMOSA BEACH

After a great breakfast prepared by Carol, Kirk's wife we are out the door into a beautiful day. First stop is just a short drive away from Kirk's house, the dock for the battleship USS Iowa. Wow! What a great tour of this historic naval ship. Just amazing! Then on to a famous music shop in Long Beach that Brian wanted to visit about buying a new stand up bass. I wait in the truck making calls while he gets lots of info from the long time expert inside. However soon lots of police cars are showing up to the building next door. Brian comes out and says the police came in and shut the place down, asking everyone to leave. They had brought dogs and were going building by building looking for a suspect. We drive off with a wild scene unfolding. next we arrive in Manhattan Beach and stop for lunch at a great Italian restaurant I know and enjoy some good food. With the afternoon getting late we stop by the club, however the US Volleyball championship is taking place at the beach near the club. Cafe Boogaloo is just blocks from the ocean and the place is crazy with people, can't get near the club. A call to Kirk and we drive by his place to hang out before the show. Cafe Boogaloo is Rockin' tonight as we hit the stage with a wild group of people here. After a super show we load the gear in the truck and work our way back to the grapevine and home to Visalia. What a knockout two days in Los Angeles! Love this town!

WEDNESDAY JULY 11 MOSQUITO SERENADE CONCERT

ANDERSON AMPHITHEATRE

ANDERSON CALIFOTNIA
OK It is record hot all over California! Stan has an idea to add a carry all shelf on the back of the F150. Just attaches where the hitch is. Kirk arrives early today and we organize the load of all the gear. With Brian on board the four of us drive north to Colusa Casino for lunch. Great little casino that I have played gigs at years ago. Super lunch and we are on our way to Anderson. There is a lot of excitement for this show because of the press and radio that advanced the date. We are setting up soon at this really big stage with a National act PA system. The promoter is here to great us and we are off to a super start. Now I have to mention that it is about 109 degrees and we are talking about maybe 107 when we start the show. Records are broken all over the state today. We are out of the Central Valley so heat we are use to. While I take a walk through the crowd saying hello, Stan jumps in the river that runs behind the stage a ways back. The area is a beautiful park with lots to enjoy here in Anderson. We all gather for a great BBQ dinner with Stan suggesting that if you want to cool off, jump in the river. Soon we are in to the show and there is dancing and singalong's. Just a good time, never mind the heat. Really had a good time today and the audience here in Anderson especially the promoter was very nice to us. Thank you.

THURSDAY JULY 12 EUREKA SUMMER CONCERT

WATERFRONT PARK EUREKA, CALIFORNIA

After a great breakfast we are on our way to the coast. There is a winding slow road out of Redding that takes you through some very beauitful mountains as it runs right along the river. Almost to Blue Lake we aqre stopped for a forest fire burning close to the road. After a bit of a wait we are on our way passing 300 feet redwood trees and turning onto 101 south towards Eureka. The surprise today is the weather here is a 40 degree difference! Much cooler and overcast. We are performing at an open gathering place like a park near downtown. In Boston they would call this a square. Open, cemented space for people to gather. The ocean is behind us on the stage and we have a good sound company mic'ing all the insturments. My friend Mike B. is here today, Mike promotes the Blues by The Bay festival among others. The show is off and rolling with dancers, singalongs and people on lawn chairs in the back. The radio station support is cool with a great DJ introducing us and giving away stuff.

FRIDAY JULY 13 LAKEPORT SUMMER CONCERT

LIBRARY PARK LAKEPORT CALIFORINA

Mike B. suggests a great place to have breakfast. With the truck ready and the band feeling great we drive south down 101 to Lakeport. A quick stop at the Peg House in Leggett to enjoy the amazing redwoods and we are back on our way. Lots of lakes in lake county, and it is nice today. We check in to the casino hotel and change. Soon we are at the stage with the same sound company from last night, so we know it will be good. The stagge is an old time gazebo that was built long ago, maybe in the 50's. It looks out towards a huge lake with lots of lawn for everyone to enjoy the park. Before the show we are visiting the radio station that has been very cool to sponsor the last two shows. We get some great eats and talk radio programming. Lots to learn with the new album out. The show starts and there is a couple thousand people ready to boogie. Kirk is rippin' on keys and the night is a lot of fun! Towards the end of the night we have some one join us on stage to sing the chors to Brown Eyed girl. By this time it has become one big party. Great town Lakeport, hope to play a show here again. This past four days has went really well. Cool group of musicians playing songs from the new alum Blues Magic.

FRIDAY, JULY 6 - HUNTINGTON BEACH HYATT
HUNTINGTON BEACH

WE ARE PERFORMING ON STAGE IN THE PLAZA CENTER
NEAR PETE'S CANTINA

7PM - 10PM

The mighty Kirk Nelson on keys is with us tonight. Brian drove in to LA on his own to look for stand up Bass guitars. You know the ones, big old fashioned bass, Willie Dixon blues star used one. He also stopped by Performance guitar to have Yasu work on his bass. Stan is driving with his wife, so we will all meet at the Hyatt. I stop by American Sound Recording in Bakersfield to pick yp more Blues magic CDs. This makes me a little late to get into LA and the traffic is slow! Still I am on time to the show and we have a great show! Lots of friends of Stan's here tonight and the weather is perfect. H.B. is one amazing location! Dinner is fantastic so I feel great and drive back to Visalia. About 3am I'm in the door and my big cat Tank says hello. At 17 pounds Tank is big. He suggests we have something to eat. I agree, sounds like a good idea!

THURSDAY, JUNE 28 - NAPA CHEF'S MARKET,
DOWN TOWN NAPA 6pm - 9pm
DWIGHT MURRAY PLAZA

Across the delta and into Napa today. As we unload the gear there is a big crowd. This combination Farmers Market, local vendors, downtown shops plus concert makes for a huge event. Guitar player Harrison Flynn is here with family. He will be sitting in with the band tonight. The PA company is engineered by Beef and he has a cool sound going as the show begins. There are some surprise friends here from Yosemite Lakes Park in Coarsegold. Friends from when we played the Napa Blues festival a couple of years ago and fans looking for the new Blues Magic CD. After the first show I meet Harrison's family and we plan to bring Harrison on stage with us on the next set. Hid Dad Kevin is a great Dad the is with Harrison all the time helping him with his guitar music. Soon Harrison is ripping along side me on the tunes and the audience is enjoying the two guitars trading riffs. At the end with a few songs left a local Keyboard player Steve Felix, who I met at sound check joins in on stage with some boogie piano and the place is having a great time. By the end of the night Harrison who is just 17 years old is rippin' on the guitar!
Lots of fun for everyone in Downtown Napa tonight. Hope to work here again!

SATURDAY, JUNE 30 - CALCAREOUS VINEYARDS
PASO ROBLES 3430 PEACHY CANYON ROAD
6pm - 9pm

Stan and his wife meet us in Paso Robles at the winery. This winery is beautiful high on a mountain top with a few for miles. With food and great wine we set up on the courtyard looking out over the valley below. The owners are very nice and I take a picture with a classic car near the barn. Weather is beautiful as I make friends with some very nice people from the coast. Lots of artists here and I look forward to exploring more of the coastline near here. I walk to a table to say hello and am surprised by the whole table of guests is from England visiting California for a summer holiday. They are having a great time seeing this central California wine country. Everyone tonight is enjoying this special location above Paso. Very nice!

THURSDAY, JUNE 21 - BISCUITS & BLUES, SAN FRANCISCO

Three days of monster good music fun! First Stan, Brian and I drive into San Francisco. Kirk and his wife Carol are already checked in to a hotel enjoying the city. Tumbleweed is driving over from the East Bay. This line up of musicians can really play some good Blues. Sta, Brian and I arrive around 3pm. Traffic is thick in this part of the City. There is a side alley, so we pull in to unload the gear. We are excited to perform in this club for the first time! The showroom is downstairs. After getting the gear in and set up we settle in with the truck in the alley and traffic rushing around on a Thursday afternoon. My friend Doug from Oregon drops by the club for a quick hello as he is staying in a hotel near by. Dave Holob is on the phone talking about the stage area has been moved for the Jackson show. Steven the general manager of the club arrives with a buzz of excitement as the club prepares to open. I get a call that three newspapers in the Bay Area are running a photo and story to support the show! Wow! I am out out the streets looking for a copy to check out the press.
Scott and Lynn call saying they are on the way to the show. My high school friend are here tonight to support this show. I'm feeling a lot of good vibes. Janet and Mario, Steve S., Doug, Connie and Matt. As the band takes the stage the room is full, all seats and tables. This is very exciting for us and we rip into the tunes! This show is a 90 minute set full of great songs. The crowd is into it and join in on many singalongs. Towards the end of the first show Blues Harp master Tumbleweed joins us on stage and the place is full of energy as the band is smokin' hot! After the first show Harrison a hot new Bay area guitar player and his Dad Kevin say hello and buy one of the new Blues magic CD's. I get a chance to visit with more surprise friends that are here for the record release. Just an amazing night for me. All the way home I can still feel the excitement of a great show in San Francisco. This is the city where I would go to the Fillmore and Winterland concert rooms and see all my favorite musicians as a kid growing up. A real blast to be able to rip on the guitar and have my new album get such positive response. Wow!

FRIDAY, JUNE 22 - POMAR JUNCTION, TEMPLETON
We are on our way to the coast! About two and some hours from Visalia. Last year we got lost because our road we were on got closed because of a grass fire. This year we have two GPS units and are ready for anything. This is a very nice winery and my friend Doug from Oregon is here along with Kirk on keys. Kirk and his wife Carol are staying near by and enjoying the shows in San Francisco and Templeton together. A nice family event with food and wine celebrating the season. Surprising to me is that coming from Visalia both last night and tonight seem a little on cold side weather wise. But that's just me living in a very warm climate like the Central Valley.

SATURDAY, JUNE 23 - JAZZIN' IT UP IN JACKSON, JACKSON
Day three and we are on our way to Jackson in the gold country of the Sierra Foothills. This is a main street event and a chance for the city to celebrate together on Main! Bands, food and fun! we are down by the famous National Hotel were many famous people have stayed during the history of Jackson. The hotel is very modern now even though it retains all the history. I spoke with the owner and he invited us to join him on some future events.
Dave Holob is with us today on violin and during the show the TV station camera crew and host are filming the show. It is a super day with Big Rick and Ricky here from Redwood City.

Brian, Stan and I are in San Bernardino the night before. Early sat. morning we are on the way. Stan has a new set of drums, however the festival has a backline on stage to make it faster to change over the bands. The festival is located on a winery high above San Diego , an amazing location! The promoter is awesome, Rob Bower. Great food, super vibes, cool crowd, just the best!
My sister Maryanne is here to help sell CDs at the Merch table. She is a wonderful people person and the Blues fans enjoy talking to her. The line up is a Blues guitar shoot out and every band is great!

We take the stage around 12:30pm and right off the crowd is up and dancing. Soon the show is buzzing with energy as the songs, band and blues fans are creating a full on good time party! Wow! Robb comes out and asks if the crowd wants more, YES, we are on for one more and it goes higher!

After the show we settle in for lunch at the hospitality tent and visit. My sister just got back from Italy and I began to think about taking the band to Europe.

Friends stop by and visit between sets like Ben from Porterville who plays bass in local groups too. Two nights a great here, the casino people are very nice to us and we enjoy leaving the gear set up for two shows. Back in the day groups would play a club for five nights in a row. Tues thru Sat. I grab tubes at my place, race back to the stage. the plaza is totally filled with people because of the TV show and we are local. my sister comes up to the stage and asks what's up with the show. I replace the tubes in my mesa boogie amp and bang it comes to life full of power! The band takes the stage and we rip into an hour of tunes slashing our way back to full power. The audience picks up on the energy and joins in.
By ten pm we are all enjoying the cool night air and having a rockin' the blues night. Great night in our home town with just a short drive home. Loved it!

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

FRIDAY, MAY 25 - DELORIMIER WINERY, HEALDSBURG
2001 Highway 128 Geyserville Tickets $10
Brian Beal is out of the country this weekend. On Bass guitar is John Dees from Visalia. An outstanding musician who has learned the show and is ready to help us. Stan, John and I drive north for the Bay area. A rain storm hits and traffic slows. We are checking the GPS and expect a call to the truck that the show is cancelled. As we move north the rain clears away and it is sunny with some wind. Soon we are hours north in a small vineyard town called Geyserville. We pull off the 101 and down Main street looking for our turn on a country road to the Delorimier Winery. Moving a little two quickly we spotted as strangers and pulled over by a police car. The officer is nice running my info and asking questions. I am very happy when he returns to the truck and gives me a warning to keep slow and easy in the area. Saying do not drink and drive after the winery. I don't drink so I felt confident when I thanked him for the warning and told the officer I would not drink and drive. We pull up to this cool winery with miles of beautiful vineyards, a stone patio with tables and chairs and the cook preparing dinner for everyone outside. The band rips into the show with a smooth sound perfect for this event. After awhile the crowd has gotten into the vibe of a good time and we are all singing and dancing. As it should be since many people are on vacation from around the USA. A fun night visiting the wine country!

1150 WEST TURNER ROAD
LODI

Stan, Brian I drive up highway 99 to Lodi on a cool spring day. Then out in to the country side, a drive that takes us through some beautiful wineries. I am surprised because driving by Lodi you never know how wonderful the countryside is here. We pull into a winery and I step inside to say we are here to set up. The front lobby has a small wine tasting bar and we are greeted by Dino that begins to tell us how much trouble his neighbors have been giving him about the weekend bands and wine parties. Dino says expect the cops by 6:30. We set up and the crowd arrives to this nice outside plaza area for goodtimes. Everyone brings their own dinner to the event. My friend Joni H. is here tonight, visiting her mother who lives near by. We visit between sets and plan to enjoy Penn Valley for a winery show there in August. Towards the end of the night the place is really having a great time, dancing, singing and visiting. We pack up after Brian and Stan drink a glass of wine with the owners and we comment that the police did not show up. Well our band is smooth and Bluzin', the neighbors had a good time too.

SATURDAY, APRIL 28 - BAY AREA SHOW

CROWN BILLIARDS
2416 SAN RAMON VALLEY ROAD
SAN RAMON

Stan, Brian and I are on our way to the bay area. The weather is amazing and we are driving on highway 198 past Hanford, the Lemoore Naval air base and Harris Ranch. On to highway 5 a great big interstate highway that moves like lightning. After a while we pull into San Ramon and up to Crown Billiards. Super place with very nice people enjoying a mellow Saturday night. The room is filling up with players at all the tables, people at the bar and friends here to see the band. Rick Smith and Ricky are here in Rick's new car. Only 700 mile on it. Nice! The band Four and more are here, two tables enjoying a Saturday night. Also the very talented Donna Paula! She takes great photos! Around 10pm in walks harp blues monster Tumbleweed and joins us for some power house blues! In between sets a wonderful young singer performs to backing music tracks and wows the crowd. There is a Belly dancer between sets too!
I meet up with Kevin who tells me Harrison is outside on the plaza. Wow! Harrison sent me a video after a newspaper interview I did with the San Jose Mercury newspaper. He is 17 years old and plays fantastic Blues guitar! Not old enough to get in but nice of him to stop by and ask his dad to let me know. We make plans to have Harrison join us on stage in Napa on June 28th. It will be smokin' hot guitar riffing!

FRIDAY & SATURDAY

MARCH 23 & 24

EAGLE MOUNTAIN CASINO

PORTERVILLE

Stan Hack on drums this weekend. Only his second and third shows with us. With the gear on board we are on our way to the casino. We have a new light system with us this year so it adds to the look of the show. With everything set up we meet for dinner at the food court. Soon we are into the first set of songs with a cool sound. Lots of people here tonight, looking to dance! With so many shows coming up this summer, I need to add all the new songs. We are playing songs from the new album and trying out possible cover songs too. At midnight we put the gear under wraps and make our way off the mountain. Tonight I got to visit with Suzy and her Mom from the Tule Indian tribe, super nice friends. I was amazed when they started talking about the history of the area around the 30's and 40's. Wide open land before the casino and the importance of the river in the area. Another cool friend Shawn from Visalia stopped by to say hello. Shawn is way excited to be graduating high school in June. A fun time in everyone's life!

Saturday at 6pm we are all on our way back to the casino. The gear all set up ready to rip into the tunes. Dinner, grab some coffee and a downbeat at 8pm. Eagle Mountain casino has a lot of very nice people working there. Everyone always says hello and they are very supportive to play your best. The band is on tonight and Stan is getting to know the show. I am playing through two Marshall cabs stacked. The cabs have old 70's green back speakers and the guitar tone is awesome. Makes me want to solo some hot riffs during the songs. At midnight we say thank you and wish everyone a great Sunday. Thank you Eagle Mountain for the chance to work this very nice casino. Good times!

After some hot rehearsals, Stan Hack is on drums with the show. Brian Beal on Bass and we are all on our way to 5,000 feet and the Bear Valley Springs Country Club. The weather is super nice, warm and clear. We pull up and load in to this beautiful lounge that has a lot of history. The stories are of Hollywood stars and stunt people visiting this famous lounge, singing and well, drinking! We are soon roaring into the tunes with people dancing and having fun. The staff and bar tender are very cool so things just roll along. On the break I meet some nice local people and make friends with Jeff and his wife Dianne. Beth a cool Realtor says hello and we talk about booking the band for her party she is planning. Just a fun night of music and good times. I am using an old Marshall cab and it sounds very good tonight. Stan has got the groove so the show goes well. Stan Hack had moved to Three Rivers six years ago from Southern California. We both played a lot of the same clubs in So. Ca. years ago. Nice to have that in common. Around 3am we pull up to my place and off load the gear. Fun night!
