The Rollin' Blues Thunder Band
Ever since his first solo concert at age 7, California native Kirk Nelson on keyboards has performed at venues from the West Coast to Memphis Tennessee -- home of the blues. Along with traditional Hammond B3 styles he also adds his version of bluesy piano playing reminiscent of legends like Johnnie Johnson and Otis Span.
Kirk has shared the stage and recorded with such greats as Bo Diddley, Bobby Blue Bland and James Cotton to more contemporary artists like Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop and Kenny Wayne Shepherd -- to name a few. When he is not performing, you can find him in the studio composing and producing sound tracks for movies and television.
Brian Beal has been playing bass professionally for over three decades.
Having performed in clubs and larger venues with touring and show bands in all the Western States, Brian has the varied experience needed to adapt to the changing needs of the today's music business. This experience includes Rock, Blues, County, Funk, Jazz, and Worship music in the recording studio, on live stage, and the occasional television appearance.
Brian has opened shows for Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Charlie Daniels, Bo Diddley, the Tubes, and dozens of other major acts. Brian has served as a bass instructor and sales staff at retail music stores and owns a recording studio for developing projects of local artists. Always wanting to learn, Brian is working to improve his upright bass technique by performing with a community orchestra, and expand his usefulness both in the studio and the live stage. Favorite music is anything with a funky slap groove. Favorite bass currently is an Ibanez Prestige SR-1000. Amplification is always Mesa Boogie.
Favorite quote is "I do it because I love it".
